How people deliver bad news messages
People delivered bad news messages by using various ways such as abusive language, careless language and the good-guy syndrome. Communication system is the back bone of any business. If we have good communication skills then we increase our reputation in the market through marketing etc. In communication skills language play a vital role to express anything in good way. So we should avoid these types of legal problems to express message in good way.
Abusive Language
Abusive language is one of the major causes of legal difficulties. If we call people with abusive language such as if we call any person like deadbeat, crook, quack. Defamation is the legal term for any false statement that harms an individual’s reputation. Oral defamation is a slander whereas printed or published defamation is a libel. The plaintiff must prove that the defamation was communicated to someone other than him/ her. Abusive language becomes legally actionable when it is false, harmful to the person’s good name, and “published.” If we want to communicate with any person then our language is the best way to express our views in a better manner. If we use that language which is abuse in nature then it put bad affect in our business dealings.
Careless Language
Nowadays the market place is increasing very litigiously and one should be certain that the words communicate only what we intend. Careless language includes statements that could be damaging or misinterpreted. Language has become one of the legal causes that can affect our business. If our language is good one can flourish the business to a great extent and vice-versa. Without doubt language affects not only your commercial relationships but every interaction we as humans have with every other intelligent entity. The Good-Guy Syndrome
The good guy syndrome is the behaviour possessed by certain people in order to please the other people. These people try to be good to everyone and always speak in favour of the other. This type of behaviour is legally very dangerous for the company. Consider the case of the U S firm interviewing job candidates. The firm asked one of its partners to inform the candidate that she didn’t get selected. The guy in order to be good to her said that she was the most qualified candidate he ever interviewed but unfortunately he could not select her as the company do not have a position for the person like her. Somehow, they interviewee come to know that the company had hired two male employees. She sued the company charging sexual discrimination. So she won the case just only because of the guy who tried to be good to her.
